Sometimes, in this line of business, we come across lovely things. This is probably the loveliest of them all so far. We don't really want to sell it...
Genuine Basset Lowke Dealership Lightbox Sign, lettering suggests 1950's as they don't seem to be Bakelite, but some other painted early plastic (phenolic?) material. There were a handful of official dealers, making this an exceptionally rare piece.
30" inches in length and 7 1/2" inches Tall, all letters are in very nice shape with only a few very small areas of paint loss or marks, there are no cracks or splits to the sign at all. Metal enclosure contains a bulb and holder, but this will require replacement due to age. (I may rewire it myself if I get the time and will update this accordingly!) Box is in bent sheet metal and very presentable with only the odd minor scratch to the surfaces. There are no dents or dings to mention.
You see Hornby ones occasionally turn up, maybe the odd Tri-ang sign, but I've never, ever seen one of these before, imagine it with a yellow bulb....
