Exquisitely made, this really is a truly beautiful piece of engineering, not to be confused with mass production models, this is a unique one of a kind piece.
Believed to be made by a gentleman named Peter McCabe, we have before us a Southern Railway V Class Locomotive and Tender. Loco is finished in Nickel Silver and beautifully proportioned, Bassett Lowke style burner and lubricator behind the smoke box (although both are hand made). Single lever regulator in the cab, tender lid is removable and hides the meths tank very well, both loco and tender are fully detailed.
Originally I intended to finish it in Maunsell Green and I'm confident I could do it justice, but the more time I have spent with it in it's "natural state", the more I fear painting it would be a bit like an act of vandalism, it's just such a handsome model!
All gear runs like butter, regulator smooth as silk. Steams and runs very well. Vintage hardwood foam lined case and display track included.
